Columnists moviegoers of the pen, Antonio Martin and Kubelick, along with special guest from New York journalist in film David Valenzuela, place bets on who will take home a statuette at the next Oscars, which will take place February 22 in Los Angeles. Some forecasts in part also the author of this blog, Fernando Mexia.

Best Picture:
As debate in Hollywood, the votes of the experts of the pen are inconclusive. The duel between revelation "Slumdog Millionaire" and "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" for the statuette for best film will endure until the day of the ceremony.
Slumdog Millionaire "has been the biggest surprise of year can leave you" stuck in the chair with a desire to laugh and mourn, "said Valenzuela, for whom the film leaves you with the" feeling of seeing something new. " My vote was also for this film because it has swept all awards granted to date, over Benjamin Button. It seems the favorite.
However, Antonio Martin defended the drama starring Brad Pitt and hopes that the Academy will side "by heading home. It has magic, is known names is long ... many ingredients that appeal to those who vote, "he said. While Martin does not believe that this film achieves any other major award.
Slumdog Kubelick grief-described Button as an epic struggle for "David versus Goliath", the independent American Indian against overproduction. Although everything points to the victory of "Slumdog Millionaire" for the analyst's pen, it gives his vote to Benjamin Button under the Marshall tandem chemical-Kennedy, veteran Hollywood producers Spielberg and allies in the saga of "Indiana Jones" or "ET", among others.
A trick that seems to start playing for Benjamin Button is, curiously, the excess of success Slumdog Millionaire. After bathing awards, the American press has begun to get stick to the story, which fails at the box office in India, and some have accused them of passing on tiptoe by the poverty of the districts of Mumbai as an excuse to tell a touching story romantic.
Best Actress:
The Academy has a name: Kate Winslet.
"To give it to Kate Winslet that it is high time," commented Kubelick and Valenzuela and they are not wrong. The total UK with " The Reader "his sixth nomination without having won the statuette yet. The actress was convinced by his performance in that film almost all jurors and is the favorite, except that this time competing with "The Reader" as a lead actress and not as high, as occurred in the Globe Gold or the Screen Actors Guild awards.
Oscar Valenzuela asks for Winslet, "because Meryl Streep already has a couple of statuettes, although he thought the nomination should have been for "Revolutionary Road" .
Martin for his part does not see it so clear. "It's one of the most hotly contested awards, in my opinion. Winslet may take him, but that will come back with the door in his face. And the story of a newcomer to the Oscars with a great performance always pulls, "he said referring to his chosen, Anne Hathaway.
For my part, I think it's time for Winslet and I think that his nomination for "The Reader" in the main category was a gesture of the Academy to ensure success and avoid the double hiciese starring actress and secondary education.
Best Actor:
Sean Penn has the edge in the forecasts of the pen, although for a short because the vote has been fairly contested.
Valenzuela opted for Penn and its transformation into Harvey Milk. One interpretation certainly take your hat off to this dedicated actor. I realize that my vote was for the protagonist of "Mystic River" at the last moment because he had planned to rely on Mickey Rourke for the same reasons that Martin has done: "Hollywood and the resurrection, a story of endless love. Only Sean Penn could overshadow him, but people are used to this key roles, "he said.
In these I was until I saw the actors themselves were favored by Penn in the prizes of their union. One sign that Rourke's return has not generated much sympathy as one might assume.
Kubelick, however, the play by Jenkins, who no big ticket campaigns and has been cast in the top five players of the year for the Academy.
"Several myths of Olympus film collected in this category: the ubiquitous Penn, the pluperfect Pitt, the secondary luxury Rourke Langella and resurrected. What vertigo, almost better to move to two meters below ground and honor the dead over live TV. I admit, I would be thrilled to see the patriarch of the Fisher collect an Oscar, "said Kubelick.
Actress:
Only category in which consensus has been reached. Penelope Cruz will win the Oscar. Without Winslet on the horizon to overshadow him multiple awards and after harvest of criticism in the U.S., "Wing" has the statuette to a caramel.
"In fairness, that Maria Elena Mediterranean, suburban and glamorous is the only good thing of tacky film (Vicky Cristina Barcelona) that has paid a vacation in Europe to the genius of Manhattan (Woody Allen). I hope the blessing of the secondary to fall on Woody Allen and Penelope Cruz, as Wiest, Sorvino and Caine before her Oscar win and bring him to Spain to wear it. The press would then have to stop insinuating that it is more arrogant and exploited to good actress, start to sweep home and sing their praises. I look forward to the report Weekly Report (agenda of the Spanish Public TV-stations): De Alcobendas to Sunset Boulevard, "said Kubelick.
In the same vein pronounced Martin and Valenzuela. "I think it shines in the film of Allen because the rest is mediocre. Hopefully we can take him and tell. But Winslet's career, the path is clear. The opposite would be a surprise, "said Martin. "Despite everything, this is the best Madrid has given the Spanish cinema. Cruz has been able to debut with Woody Allen on the floor and let Scarlett Johansson and Bardem himself, saving a movie that, if she does not appear, reporting would not travel a tad trite, "said Valenzuela.
Best Supporting Actor:
It might seem that the late Heath Ledger have an Oscar in your pocket, but the choices of evil "Joker" to the statues may have arrived a little waterfalls. Ultimately it is more than a year after his death and several months since it opened the latest Batman sequel. For my part, I believe its role deserves the Oscar, but "The Dark Knight "is no longer in the shadow of other great performances.
Martin vehemently defends Ledger. "There is no possible argument or a question of frivolousness. Say what you will. Is this man out in this paper. " But Valenzuela believes Michael Shannon is above the Australian actor fatalities. Convinced of the quality of "Revolutionary Road", this reporter believes that the interpretation of Shannon "next to the Winslet in this film by Sam Mendes, is the best of the year."
Kubelick chose, however, Josh Brolin, for "the role of the 2008 politically incorrect" and served as spokesman for the legion of moviegoers who doubt that Ledger would have won the Oscar without the "plus" that occurs in Hollywood that he died young: "would have won the prize by Heath Ledger as the Joker character actor to be alive today? I doubt it. To collect prizes, Shannon Hoffman still has time and already have many. Will they go back shots on the roll necrophiliac? "We will see another sonrojante standup ovation in praise of good-looking corpse?" He said.
Best Director:
Danny Boyle has won everything this year, do not think the Oscar to escape him. These are also Antonio Martin and David Valenzuela who believe that the British Academy award for "venture into the unknown without being aware of the great movie he was directing" (Valenzuela), and because Hollywood will choose the "touch 'indie'" (Martin).
"This kind of" City of God "made in India will have to settle for this award. And I loved, I love Boyle. But Fincher is likely to snatch it, "said Martin.
Not without some indignation, Kubelick attacked the choice of the Academy and opted for David Fincher.
"Four of the five nominees this year are in my personal ranking of most overrated directors of all time, Stephen Daldry and Danny Boyle, also occupy prominent places. The films with both leaped to fame, the noventeras (is used and this term?) 'Trainspotting' (Boyle) and 'Billy Elliot' (Daldry) accumulate bonus points for the aggravation of opportunism generations. Gus Van Sant took a nosedive in my rankings since critics vowed to copy the 'Psycho' plane to plane. Going up and down on that list is also Ron Howard as give undeserved awards (A Beautiful Mind) or not. The fifth of the directors who choose the Oscar this year tops another list very different "names essential to understand the cinema of the past fifteen years."
Best Original Screenplay:
"I think this award should give to any writer who wants to go to Pixar picked up the Kodak Theatre. In the final analysis, animation or live action, these people are dedicated to telling stories. And for quite some time because his are always the most fun year, "he argued Kubelick giving his vote to" Wall-E ". The film's lonely robot in a post-apocalyptic Earth fought to enter nominations for best film, but ultimately had to be content with the not inconsiderable best animated film nominated for 2008 award to win. In my view, the award of the script could be the extra recognition from the Academy to "Wall-E."
Antonio Martin preferred the touch "indie" in " Frozen River "and Valenzuela bet on the victory of" Mike Leigh, to see if the sixth time lucky and wins the Oscar once with a movie, "Happy-Go- Lucky ", which is able to reconcile with life at the higher of the embittered."

I agree with you on the side, the award to Heath Ledger, who deserves it, and Penelope, I'm not so sure that it merecta, although I have not seen the doubt. As for best picture, I doubt, though Slumdog bet on, but I liked Harvey Milk. Director: David Fincher and actors: Sean Penn, although it is true about those who return from the ashes, as it is Rourke. She, Hathaway is fine, I love Street, but would bet by Winslet. Let's see what happens.
