Film Review: Watchmen

"Watchmen" is not Batman or Superman or Spiderman. Although the protagonists are superheroes, there unsolved murders and a threat hanging over the immediate future of the planet, "Watchmen" combines those traditional ingredients of a tape taken from the comic adventures of an unusual form. The dialogues take precedence over the action scenes, the pace is slow to recreate the internal drama of each character and there is no Hollywood Manicheism of the struggle between good and evil.
"Watchmen" is a film of gray areas of human baseness, heroes depressed watching wistfully the past. An interesting argument drawn from a graphic novel of the same name ranked among the top 100 literary works written in English since 1923 by Time Magazine (2005), but it suffers from an excess of footage that weighs heavily on the ability of the average viewer to maintain their attention throughout the film. I do not exaggerate, "Watchmen" exceeds 2 hours and 40 minutes.
Its duration, the slow pace of the plot and the fact that the protagonists are superheroes unknown to a mass audience (Dr. Manhattan, The Comedian ...) are the main enemies that have this over for a big box office, although a good comic book fan base will help "Watchmen" to fill their coffers and try to recover $ 120 million invested in its implementation.
The film humanizes the superhero as in "Hellboy", share the darkness and voice which sometimes results in the narrative of films like "Max Payne" but, despite being science fiction, fantasy worlds away from and integrates the supernatural in routine social and draw as few human heroes of great strength and fighting technique to hide their weakness behind a tight suit, masks and layers.
The director of "300" is behind this story expected to keep away from the success of "The Dark Knight," the latest Batman with Heath Ledger's Joker, and that may disappoint those who go to the movies looking for the usual action, persecutions and impossible situations that end with a happy ending features the stories of superheroes. "Watchmen" is different, is violent, gritty and bittersweet ending, like life itself.
