"Top 10" films of 2008
By Fernando Mexia - Cinema - 15/12/2008
The American Film Institute (AFI) released its annual list of the ten best films of 2008. A classification that carries the nominations against the Golden Globes and excludes films to date had come into all pools for the Oscars.
The "top 10" from AFI, without the order means that some films have been more valued than others, is as follows:
- The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
- The Dark Knight
- Frost / Nixon
- Frozen River
- Gran Torino
- Iron Man
- Milk
- Wall-E
- Wendy and Lucy
- The Wrestler
Surprising to see how only two of the five nominees for the Golden Globe for best film are among the ten titles, those that slip the two highest grossing films of the year in the U.S., featuring Batman and Iron Man-forgotten unfairly, at least the first, for candidates, and not on the list "The Reader" "Slumdog Millionaire" and "Revolutionary Road".
Do appear "Milk" and "Gran Torino", two of the defenestradas at the Golden Globes, and "The Wrestler" reenters among the first.
"Wall-E" has become the best animated film, and another couple of films that are left in the second row of the tapes in 2008, "Wendy and Lucy" and "Frozen River", both were out in some forecasts but only for in the categories of interpretation.
Despite the recent verdict of the Golden Globes, it seems that competition for the Oscar is not closed.
